Welcome Message
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Brazilian Society of Immunology, we are pleased to invite you to attend our XLVIII Annual Congress that will take place in the town of Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais state, Brazil, from October 2nd to 6th, 2023.
Since last year we have returned to in-person meetings. The rapid and vigorous response to the pandemic of COVID-19 with effective vaccines, diagnostic assays and various treatment regimens was critical for this safe return, and it is a testimony of the robustness of immunology research worldwide.
The Scientific Program is composed of symposia, workshops, and keynote lectures on the recent advances in different fields of immunology, including lymphocyte development and function, immune responses to pathogens, mucosal immunology, vaccines, immunotherapy, tumor immunology, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, allergy, immunosenescence, and much more. The conference will gather renowned scientists from Brazil and several other countries with substantial participation of young investigators.
As part of SBI tradition, we will give special attention to the sections in which undergraduate and graduate students, as well as post-doctoral fellows, will present their ongoing work during oral and poster sessions.
All participants will have the chance to enjoy the scientifically dense yet relaxed atmosphere to learn, exchange experiences and construct collaboration networks.
This year, we will have some novelties: a special childcare program to facilitate the participation of researchers with kids, and a section on art & science to highlight the many bonds of science to other forms of human creativity.
The meeting site, Ouro Preto, will be an additional attraction. This eighteen-century town, with its sinuous mountains and charming colonial streets, was declared a City National Monument by the UNESCO World Heritage Site. We believe it will be the perfect environment to foster scientific discussion and partnership, the main purposes of the congress.
We look forward to seeing you at our meeting.

THE VENUE
The congress will be held at the Convention Center of University Federal of Ouro Preto (UFOP) in historic city center offers state-of-the-art facilities and services to ensure attendees’ seamless and memorable experiences. It was a metallurgic park in the past, and the UFOP transformed it into a convention center destinated for various events, including scientific events. Later it was donated to the municipality of Ouro Preto. The Convention Center is equipped with auditoriums, meeting rooms, a theater, and a large space to accommodate stands. The main hall, which boasts a capacity of up to 2,500 people, is the perfect venue for large-scale events. Additionally, several smaller meeting rooms and breakout areas can be used to network talks.

OURO PRETO
Located 95 kilometers from the capital Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto transports you back in time to the heart of Brazil’s colonial past. The city is a true gem, nestled amongst the rolling hills of Minas Gerais, and is a testament to the country’s rich history and culture. For its value, Ouro Preto decreed City National Monument in 1933 and UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.
This charming historical town is known for its steep, narrow cobbled streets, colonial-style houses, and baroque architecture. Ouro Preto is also famous for the many pieces of art created by Aleijadinho (Antônio Francisco Lisboa), and for your historical and iconic churches decorated with Aleijadinho`s art, wood, and gold.
But the beauty of Ouro Preto is not limited to its buildings and architecture. The city is surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes and offers a taste of the gastronomical experience.
Originally called Vila Rica, the city was renamed after the Portuguese found large gold deposits in the 18th century. The Brazilian gold rush dominated the economic activity of the colony for two centuries and had Ouro Preto as its center. So, come back in time to the heart of Brazil’s colonial past.
“Mineira” Food
Indulge your taste buds with the unique and delicious flavors of Mineira cuisine! Originating from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Mineira food is a mouth-watering blend of traditional Portuguese, African, and indigenous influences. Mineira food is a variety of flavorful stews and deserts such as: feijão tropeiro, pão de queijo, doce de leite, goiabada and cheese. Whether you are omnivorous or vegetarian, Mineira food has something for everyone. So, experience the rich and diverse flavors of Minas Gerais cuisine.

scientifics abstracts
Abstract Deadline: July 13, 2023
We are pleased to invite abstract submissions for the upcoming IMMUNO 2023, to be held on (October 02 to 06 in Ouro Preto – MG – Brazil). The Congress will feature a comprehensive program, with the goal of bringing together researchers, students, and industry experts in the immunology field to share and discuss their latest research findings.
All abstracts submitted to the Congress must be written in English and received by the specified deadline, (July 13). Abstracts written in inadequate English or containing orthographic errors may be refused by the Abstract Review Committee.
Each abstract submission will be evaluated by reviewers designated by the committee, who will assess the adherence of the abstract for presentation at the Congress and further publication in the Annals. The top-ranked abstracts will be selected for oral presentation in the main program (PhD students and post-doc fellows only) or in the express presentation sessions (undergrad, master, PhD students, and post-doc fellows), based on their degree of general interest and suitability to the main theme.
Abstracts selected for oral presentation must be presented by a student or post-doc fellow. Senior authors will not be permitted to present.
Each presenting author may submit a maximum of one abstract. The author presenting the study will be required to register for the Congress.
We encourage all authors to register before the abstract submission deadline to ensure their participation in the Congress.
We look forward to receiving your abstract submissions and hope to see you at the Congress. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us
Abstracts must be submitted through the conference online and must fall into one of the areas listed below:
- Cellular Immunology (CE)
- Chemokines and Trafficking (CT)
- Clinical Immunology (CL)

- Humoral Immunology (HI)
- Immunology of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (ID)
- Immunopharmacology (IP)
- Immunoregulation (IR)
- Innate Immunity (IN)
- Molecular Immunology (MI)
- Transplantation and Immunogenetics (TR)
- Tumor Immunology (TU)
- Vaccines (VC)
Abstracts must comply with the following guidelines:
- References should be restricted to a minimum (no author names) and, if necessary, the abbreviated journal title should be used, followed by volume: first page-last page, year (e.g. Brain Res. 472:24-40, 1992). Citations like (Ashley et al., 1994) will not be accepted.
